8 Ways To Learn New Skills While You’re Staying Home
If you’re like me, you might be trying to think of useful, productive ways to spend your time while staying home during this quarantine period. Many businesses are offering virtual classes on all kinds of topics, and I’ve rounded up a list of some of my favorite ones. Let’s exercise our brains, and learn something new!
Learn a new language
If you’ve been wanting to learn a new language, it’s the perfect time to do it! The Duolingo app offers free lessons for over 30 languages. I’ve been using this app for a few years now to learn Czech, and I love it! Rosetta Stone is another great program for learning a new language. I haven’t tried it, but many of my friends have enjoyed using it.
Take an Ivy League course
This is one of my favorites— Yale University is offering one of its most popular courses online for FREE. You can sign up through the Coursera app, and take it at your own pace. The course is called, “The Science of Well-Being.” I recently signed up for it, and I can’t wait to start! Coursera offers tons of online classes from universities all over the world, so you have plenty of options, depending on your interests. Harvard University is also offering a selection of free online classes, including courses like Intro to Game Development, Intro to Accounting and even classes about Shakespeare.
Check out some of the free online recipes and videos from Sur la Table, and learn to cook a delicious meal! They offer easy, step-by-step guides for a wide variety of meals. If you’re looking for more intense lessons, sign up for Gordon Ramsay’s cooking classes through the MasterClass app!
