This 14oz ceramic Richmond TX mug would make an excellent gift or everyday coffee mug. Perfectly safe in the microwave and we recommend washing it on the top rack in the dishwasher.
Charles Beyl is an illustrator, designer and cartoonist. When he is not in his studio you can find him teaching at the University of Houston or Houston Community College. If he is not doing those things, you'll find him riding bike with his wife or drawing sea monsters and garbage trucks with his grand children.
You can find some of his latest work in the Map It Junior series, a geography primer for toddlers published by Rand McNally. Waterways and Landforms are available now. Look for Roadways & Trails coming out soon. To see a sample of his work go to: www.charlesbeyl.com
About a year ago, I was at home drinking my morning coffee, brewed with coffee beans I recently purchased from local roaster Bryan with Fort Bend Coffee Roasters. I happened to glance down at my mug and saw it was a Miami Starbucks mug. I immediately thought this isn't right! I'm drinking Fort Bend coffee out of a Florida mug. A-ha moment! Why not create a cool coffee mug unique to Fort Bend County?!
We began reaching out to business friends in the area and after meeting with Aimee, from Blockhouse Coffee of Richmond, she introduced us to an artist she knew from Sugar Land. I met with "Mr. Charlie," Charles Beyl, to explain our vision, and he was excited about the opportunity. His drawing and illustration style was exactly what I was looking for. The Fort Bend mug series was finally coming to life! We then partnered with local promotional products company, Mighty Moose of Rosenberg, to help find the perfect mug and then production began!
It's truly amazing what can be accomplished when you collaborate with community members and local businesses. That's what My Fort Bend is all about. I hope you are as excited as we are to sip your morning coffee (or tea) from this special mug, made with love, right here in Fort Bend County!
